Why you need Renter's Insurance!

Many renters don't realize how much they could benefit from having an insurance policy that can help protect their valuables in a life-changing event. Renters insurance offers the same general personal property coverage as homeowners insurance.

Reason 1: Your landlord's insurance doesn't protect your belongings.

Many people assume their landlord's insurance protects their items, but it doesn't. Landlord's insurance covers the physical building(s) and structures like sheds, fences, and detached garages. It does not cover items inside the building, i.e., your personal belongings and property.

Reason 2: Protect your personal belongings.

Renter's insurance protects your items against fire, smoke, theft, vandalism, and water damage from plumbing issues. Be sure to take pictures and an inventory of your belongings to know what all needs to be replaced or repaired. Coverages can sometimes extend to items stored outside of your home, such as in your car.

Reason 3: Liability coverage for injuries or apartment damages.

If someone falls in your apartment, or there's damage to another apartment caused by you. Renter's insurance will cover legal fees and medical expenses up to the liability limit.

Reason 4: Loss of use or additional living expenses.

Renters' insurance will cover costs like hotel bills, temporary rentals, and food if your apartment is severely damaged and you are forced to move out during repairs.

Reason 5: Affordability

Renters insurance typically ranges from $15 to $30 per month, depending on where you live and the amount of coverage you have.
